As the nights draw in and the gritting trucks start their midnight vigil, the biking world turns its eyes to the NEC in Birmingham, and Motorcycle Live 2015! Here’s a selection of photos from the first day, and my “best picks” of the latest machinery!
As I walked through the door of Motorcycle Live 2015, I was immediately greeted with some MotoGP delights in the form of Scott Redding’s 2015 Marc VDS Honda. It was a solid season for Scott, who needed a good half season to settle into the rasping Honda. I’m looking forward to seeing him ride the Pramac Ducati in 2016, and already he’s reporting positive progress in the off-season testing!
Accompanied by my Dad who’s a huge Kawasaki fan, we immediately ran to the Kawasaki area and had a good long look at the new ZX10. It does look a bit menacing doesn’t it?
Much to our delight, 2015 World SBK Champion Jonathan Rea had a short interview on the Kawasaki Stage!
Next up is the new face of the Kawasaki Z1000.
One for the more “laid back” of the biking world, the new Kawasaki VN1700 Voyager 2016. Sitting on this was like sitting is luxury sofa equipped with dials and vintage looking goodies! You can’t help but think of cruising down an open American freeway on this bike. One for the bucket list!
The Kawasaki H2R. Like something from a Batman film, this is the colossal turbocharged superbike, or hyperbike, drenched in carbon fibre goodness and winglets all round to help keep it light and on the road. In terms of “what you get for your money”, this isn’t too badly priced compared to other top level machines.
A little dose of vintage class for you, a Yamaha RD350!
And for something a little different, the eco-friendly BMW C Evolution!
The BMW S 1000R. You cannot fault the excellent build quality of these machines, and the attention to detail BMW puts into the all the components, and refinement of parts.
The BMW G 310 R.
Now one of my favourites of the show, down to its clean vintage looking lines, and simplistic yet refined finish. The BMW R nineT.
For the adventurers. The BMW F 700 GS.
The Triumph Bonneville T120 Black.
… and the new 2016 Triumph Street Twin.
Possibly the nation’s favourite? The Triumph Street Triple!
A funky looking electric powered mountain bike featuring big chunky tyres we’re so accustomed to seeing with modern pedal-power!
Another personal favourite of mine, the gleaming and instantly recognisable Honda “Repsol” Fireblade, and in my opinion the more comfortable and “wrist friendly” of the super sports bikes!
Bottoms up! A selection of Honda Superbike motorcycles.
Cruise the freeways and long open highways in style and comfort with the Victory Cross Country.
One good thing about Motorcycle Live is the amount of amazing custom made motorcycles. Many of which are for sale!
The increasingly popular Ducati Scrambler. You can’t help but marvel at the practicality and affordability of this medium weight roadster!
The jewel in Ducati’s lineup for 2016, the Panigale R.
My personal favourite stand of Motorcycle Live 2015 was taken by Yamaha. Especially their “Yard Built” selection of custom bikes on show, taking inspiration from yesterday, and releasing it for today on the top of modern technology. And the prices were amazing considering the customisation and uniqueness of these machines. Bravo Yamaha!
The Yamaha “Yard Built” 900 ‘Faster Wasp’ by Roland Sands Design is an instant winner. Awesome Kenny Roberts design inspirations make this a bike eager to carve up the roads.
Another “yard built” XJ900 spin off custom.
I remember seeing this bike and thinking it was something I’d like to have in the event of a zombie apocalypse! Rough and coarse styling with a matt black finish give the impression this ride can handle anything. The Yamaha XJR1300 Guerilla Four.
One cannot have a Yamaha stand without the presence of The Doctor himself. Valentino Rossi’s 2015 Yamaha YZR-M1 MotoGP bike. I love seeing these at the shows, and noticing the little marks and scrapes and “fixes” around the bike as it’s weathered some of the fastest and most thrilling races. This season was one of the all-time greats of motorcycle racing with the likes of Marquez, Lorenzo, Rossi, and Innanone stealing the show. Roll on 2016!
The new naked Yamaha MT-10.
My “Best In Show” for Motorcycle Live 2015. The Yamaha YZF-R1 in 60th Anniversary Edition in Yellow.
Sweet Italian styling upon the MV Agusta Brutale 800RR.
One of the many interactive features at Motorcycle Live is the offroad experiences for young and old alike! There’s so many opportunities to try your hand at something new, even taking your first step to riding a motorcycle for the first time!
One from yesteryear, yet always a headturner today. The Ducati 916 in classic red.
The classic lines of the Royal Enfield motorcycles.
The Metisse Motorcycles “Steve McQueen Desert Racer“.
I’d like to thank you for scrolling through this epic gallery of photos from this years’ Motorcycle Live 2015. Please let me know your favourites from the show in the comments below, and ride safe during the winter months!
